Installation Path

In order for icon packs to show in game, they need to be placed in a specific folder in the game files. If you play Dead by Daylight through Steam or the Epic Games Store then the NightLight Desktop app should detect this automatically.

If for some reason the app can't, or if you're playing through Windows Store/Xbox Game Pass then you'll need to find it manually.

Selected path not valid

Due to a technical quirk, the "DeadByDaylight" folder may not be recognised as a valid selection. Selecting any of the folders highlighted here in bold should work: \<parent_folder>\DeadByDaylight\Content\UI\Icons. This will be fixed in a future release and shouldn't affect automatically recognised installs (i.e. Steam & Epic Games Store).

If NightLight Desktop is still saying the path isn't the root folder, try verifying your game files before trying again.

Steam

In your game library, right click on Dead by Daylight then click Manage and Browse local files.

Browse Local Files in Steam

File Explorer should then open in the game's root folder, if you're using NightLight Desktop then this is the path you want to provide.

File Explorer Path

If you're installing icons manually then you'll want to navigate deeper, DeadByDaylight > Content > UI > Icons.

Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dead by Daylight

Epic Games Store

In your game library, click on the on the Dead by Daylight card and then click Manage.

Dead by Daylight in the Epic Games Launcher

File Explorer should then open in the game's root folder, if you're using NightLight Desktop then this is the path you want to provide.

File Explorer Path

If you're installing icons manually then you'll want to navigate deeper, DeadByDaylight > Content > UI > Icons.

Default: C:\Program Files\Epic Games\DeadByDaylight

Windows Store

In the past, Windows Store installations were read-only which meant you couldn't install default icons without following some extra steps. It seems like they might have changed it between Windows 10 and 11, but I'm not certain when or why it changed.

If your installation isn't read-only then installing custom icons should be as simple as with any other game store.

By default, the installation path will be: C:\XboxGames\Dead By Daylight\Content (If you've installed it to a different drive, replace C:\ accordingly).

If that doesn't work, reach out in the Discord.
